Chapter 1 - "The Test"
- Took Tayedalhi's Solid Mechanics of Magitech test
- Ate with friends Eliza and Naterasha
- Then had another test in Haverson Hall
Chapter 2 - "The Interview"
- Edwin leaves for an interview at a magitech company seeking an internship there
- On his way he makes a detour to visit the village he grew up in as a child
- A goblin raid drove Edwin's family to move to their current city
- Edwin then takes the interview
- When he gets back he heads to the university to take another exam
- On his way home he picks his brother, Michael, up from the Academy and drops him off at the barbers for a haircut
- Edwin chats online with his scryver till he falls asleep, he talks with a renowned cook and a fledgling writer.
Chapter 3 - "Humorous Happenings"
- Edwin drove his brother, Michael, to the academy ball
- Then he went off and hung out with Gordan, Ownen, and Tiglits who had been comically attacked by some witches on campus earlier that day
- Brief account of the rest of that weekend at home and at Church
- Took last exam Monday
Chapter 4 - "The Play"
- Edwin's family (mom, dad, Donovan, and grandparents) go to see a play at the Academy where Michael had a key role as a main character
- After the play Edwin ran into an old crush
- Later Edwin reminisces about his experience at the Academy
Chapter 5 - "War and Music"

- Edwin takes Ty to visit Trocvis and Lance, knights who lived at an outpost not too far outside the city
- While on a walk, they are ambushed by forest orcs, whom they skillfully dispatched with relative ease
- The next day Edwin goes to a piano recital by a friend of Michael
- There he talks to his old crush, Kassia
Chapter 6 - "Teheehehehehe..."
- Squiggers introduces herself
- She recounts how she met him when a boy stole his school papers
- Edwin tells her about his ambitions and his doubts about being a Magitechnician
Chapter 7 - "Of Flowers and Other Pretty Things"
- Edwin has a dream about a beautiful girl and an evil faun
Chapter 8 - "The Bowling Brawl"
- Edwin goes bowling with Ty and Ty's girlfriend's youth group
- Edwin meets Ty's girlfriend Caitlyn and another girl named Liz
- After bowling some shady guys picked a fight but Edwin and gang dispatched them with ease
Chapter 9 - "Back to the Grind Again"
- Edwin has a bad dream and is nearly late for school
- before class, Edwin reads a story by his friend Jim
- Edwin has a long day of classes and goes to bed
Chapter 10 - "Lunch"
- Edwin eats lunch on campus
Chapter 11 - "Ambush"
- Edwin is caught up in an ambush on a military supply caravan that was passing by
- Edwin's Jeed was killed in the initial attack
- Edwin uses basic healing and enhancement magic on himself
- Edwin finds Keely O'Connor and performs a high level healing arte with Ariel's help
- Edwin reunites Keely with her mother
- After thanking Edwin, Mrs O'Connor sends Edwin off with a couple guards for protection on his way home
Chapter 12 - "Fire and Ice"
- Three days have passed since the ambush
- Ariel teases Edwin about having a bit of a crush on Keely
- Edwin has a brief conversation with his mother
- When she leaves, he and Ariel talk more about his crush and decide to work off the emotions by training down by the river
- Ariel explains how fire magic training requires nearly freezing to death to awaken the inner flame
- They debate weather this should be done and Ariel basically gives three reasons to go through with the training, he has giant's blood in him, she is there to guide him, and she thinks that events like the ambush will happen more frequently. They need to be prepared.
- Edwin begins the training by stripping down and submerging himself in the frigid creek water
- The chapter ends with Edwin losing consciousness and Ariel screaming
Chapter 13 - "Temptation"
- Edwin wakes up in a surreal world and a temptress in the form of Keely urges Edwin to give in to temptation
- Edwin manages to run and as he runs everything around him ignites in a great fire
- He hears the words "You Pass" and then the dream fades
- Edwin comes back to consciousness inside a massive fireball of his creation that explodes
- Ariel and Edwin talk about what just transpired and she concludes that a dragon had chosen to test Edwin
- Because the Dragon interupted Edwin's training, Edwin still cannot use fire magic, so he has to wait till the dragon has finished testing him
- After all that, they eventually head home and get some rest
Chapter 14 - "Gigantic Nostrils in Space"
